El Ranchito suite is a beautifully-appointed master suite that occupies a lovely open-air bungalow, a traditional-style Costa Rican structure, with cane ceilings and murals throughout. The bathroom has a luxurious Jacuzzi bathtub surrounded by lush gardens and a large sitting room and deck provide a view of the Higuerón trees above and the coffee plantation below.

El Remanso Lodge

El Remanso Lodge (3 nights)

On the untamed Osa Peninsula, marking the remote southwestern tip of Costa Rica, wildlife is diverse, rare tropical lowland rainforest thrives, and our ocean tide-pools, dense rainforest trails, and roaring waterfalls add up to the castaway escape you’ve always imagined.

Welcome to El Remanso, an upscale wildlife lodge born of adventure, rooted in the wilds of Costa Rica’s last frontier, and interwoven with the Osa Peninsula’s most personalized and sustainable jungle experience.

We are proud to be one of the few hotels in Costa Rica to rely 100% on renewable energy for the full operation of the lodge. We generate our electricity with our own hydroelectric system and solar panels. Furthermore, the hot showers you will enjoy are a result of our solar hot-water system which covers all of our demand for hot water.

Surrounded by the jungle – and passing macaws, toucans, and monkeys – our open-structure bamboo restaurant and observation deck perch above the forest canyon, perfectly positioned for ocean views, wildlife encounters, and sea breezes. At our open-air restaurant, the only thing more remarkable than the setting is our elevated Costa Rican cuisine: light yet sophisticated, featuring ultra-fresh and organic ingredients, sourced in our gardens, from the sea, and with the help of a few trusted farmers.

Step into this perch surrounded by a forest canyon, and you enter the world of the rainforest canopy: nearly high enough to touch the sky, yet close enough to just make out the call of the Pacific.

This is life both within and without: within the enigmatic world of the tropical rainforest and without the distractions of everyday life. This is your chance to get lost – to lose yourself to the howl of passing monkeys and melodic birdsong, the ballad of ocean breezes and the bickering of scarlet macaws.

This is not treehouse living, but treetop living: 1,200 square-feet of natural stone and cool teak, high ceilings and showers under the stars. While away the hours on the expansive hardwood deck and in your private plunge pool – your exclusive front-row seat to brilliant sunsets and the sights, sounds and sensations of our rare tropical lowland rainforest.

Day 4

Experiences at El Remanso Lodge

Delve into the secrets of rainforest, as only our eagle-eyed expert guides can reveal: sloths curled into treetop canopy, hummingbird nests tucked into leaves, and aerial roots, curled around centenarian trees. Long or short, gentle or challenging, we offer a guided nature hike to tick your goals.

One of the world’s top birding destinations, the Osa Peninsula represents Costa Rica’s last wildlife frontier: Gracious home to over 400 bird species, El Remanso unfolds over 185 acres (75 hectares) of primary and secondary rainforest – over habitats that house scarlet macaws and white hawks, chestnut-mandible toucans and our bird-watching tours.

Challenge yourself to exhilarating adrenaline and one of our most popular activities! Perfectly suited to beginners and seasoned adventurers alike, this is the perfect choice if you’re looking to take your rainforest experience to another level.
